The Mira Costa girls swimming team won its first Bay League championship. Winning swims came from senior and captain Marisa Purcell in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle and from junior Natalie Lavinsky in the 50 freestyle.
Purcell and Lavinsky were joined by sophomores Meriel Mitsakos and Akemi Aiello in the 400 free relay. Their relay time earned a 4th-seed position for the CIF preliminaries to be held Friday in Long Beach. Purcell, Lavinsky, Mitsakos and Aiello will also swim individual events in CIF competition. ER
